Vic began this edition of Crosstalk by talking about the Bible story that depicts a young man possessed by evil spirits. He came before Jesus and Jesus set him free. In his joy over what had been done he wanted to go with Jesus and the disciples but Jesus told him that he should stay behind and tell his friends what the Lord has done.
This is important because while many of us may have dreamed of doing what other Christians might see as “great things” for God, perhaps God is calling you to lead others to Christ within your immediate sphere of influence. After all, when was the last time you led a soul to Christ? Was it days, weeks, months or even years ago?
Due to this concern, a major change is taking place within the confines of the VCY Bookstore ministry. The VCY Bookstore is making room for change concerning evangelism and outreach.
The VCY evangelism program will train Christians and get evangelistic materials in the hands of people, teaching them how to reach co-workers, friends and family members for Christ.
One reason for this ministry is to help do away with the “baggage” that comes to mind when one is confronted with the idea of evangelism. On that note, Vic, Rick and Ryan discuss other areas related to evangelism such as:
--Personal testimony tracts.
--Discipleship—When someone becomes a Christian, what are they supposed to do next?
--Distractions—Those things that confront us in life that aren’t necessarily sinful yet keep us from the propagation of the gospel or to greater growth in our own faith.
--The importance of prayer.
--If you pray for opportunities to witness, watch out because God will provide!
