Product Description

Jim began this edition of Crosstalk by pointing out that the major mantra of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender movement is their use of the term, “tolerance”.

Within the last 24 hours, the Boy Scouts of America reaffirmed their position on homosexuality, letting it be known that they will not allow open homosexuals to serve within their private organization.  The result is that the Boy Scouts are now being verbally “bullied” by the intolerance of the LGBT community.

The Scouts launched a committee to study this issue about two years ago.  Since so many rumors were being circulated that they were going to be changing their policy to allow open homosexuality, they issued a statement last month (June 7th).  The statement was clear that the Boy Scouts had no plans to change their policy.  It noted that, “The B.S.A. is a voluntary, private organization that sets policies that are best for the organization.  The B.S.A. welcomes all who share its beliefs but does not criticize or condemn those who wish to follow a different path.”

Jim covered considerable background on this issue.  He presented a brief  overview of the Scouts and what they stand for along with quotes from numerous key individuals who have weighed-in on this controversy.  They include: James Turley, the CEO of the accounting firm of Ernst & Young; Randall Stephenson, CEO of AT&T; Chad Griffin of the Human Rights Campaign and Robert Mazzuca, Chief Scout Executive with the Boy Scouts of America.
