Barbara Loe Fisher is the president of the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC), a non-profit charity she co-founded with parents of DPT vaccine injured children in 1982. NVIC is a national, grassroots movement and public information campaign to institute vaccine safety reforms and informed consent protections in the public health system. She has researched, analyzed and publicly articulated the major issues involving the science, policy, law, ethics and politics of vaccination to become one of the world’s leading non-medical, consumer advocacy experts on the subject.
Barbara has written that public opinion surveys and polls indicate that more Americans are doubtful that getting vaccinated over and over again is a reliable way to stay healthy, especially since the extreme response by governments to the World Health Organization's coronavirus pandemic declaration in 2020. The result is that more adults have lost trust in doctors and public health officials.
Some people have experienced a COVID-19 shot reaction or know someone who has died suddenly or know someone that is suffering from chronic poor health problems after getting the shot. Others can't forget being terminated from their job or being denied medical care or a school education for refusing the jab. Others are still unable to access social media accounts that were suspended for simply talking about COVID shot reactions.
Such negative experiences have prompted a growing number of Americans to question whether they or their children really need to get a flu shot each year or many other government recommended vaccines. Doctors are calling this Vaccine hesitancy.
In response to this, Barbara was moved to write a commentary called, The Siren Call for a Militarized Response to the Rise of Vaccine Hesitancy. She did this because she's seen the rise of violent and hateful rhetoric that's been used against anyone who dares question the safety of vaccines and particularly vaccine mandates. Such rhetoric is now appearing in scientific journals. Barbara sees this as very dangerous when it becomes part of public health policy.
Review this broadcast and learn more about her heavily referenced commentary, which she sees as particularly important, especially when people are being censored on social media platforms as has happened to NVIC on 3 of the 4 major platforms. They were removed simply for asking for better science and informed consent.
